The Cover Art

That's the cover art for the novel, and I think it turned out pretty well.  I did it myself, and I'm very proud of it.  I went for a simple, somewhat mysterious theme because I generally don't like busy covers.  Hope you all like it as much as I do.

An Introduction

I know this blog isn't terribly attractive.  I toyed with different backgrounds and headers, but I just couldn't find anything which didn't look extraordinarily cheesy.  So, I went simple.  It'll serve it's purpose, though.

Ah, but what is that purpose?  I think simplicity is the best tactic in most situations, so I'll just come out and say it.

My name is Nick Searcy (I write under the name N.R. Searcy), and, among other things, I am a writer.  I have written dozens of short stories, a few screenplays, and am on the verge of completing the final edit on a novel.  Until recently, my work has been merely a hobby; I've never really tried to get anything published.  The whole process always just seemed so daunting, and I have no idea where or how to even begin.  A few weeks ago, though, I read an article about self-published authors, and I was intrigued to find out that it's not very difficult.  I asked myself, "Why not give it a shot?"

So here I am, after a few weeks of editing, starting a blog to promote my forthcoming fantasy novel, entitled Heartkeeper.

In the next few days, I'll be posting a short blurb, the cover art, and a sample chapter of the novel.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope that you'll give the novel a shot when it publishes.
